About Tazi
{Wildlife, nature, travel, turquoise, Canon, peaches, friends & family, fun, sunshine, guacamole, (big) cats, chamomile tea, brown eyes, lemurs, unicorns, my lovely boyfriend Remco and of course photography are just a few of my favourite things, in random order.
My (nick)name is Tazi Brown. I used this name to create a Facebook account for my photography friends, who now call me Tazi, which is actually sort of short for Natasja. 😉
Ever since I got my first camera for my 8th birthday, I have been taking pictures. It was when I was in Africa in 2012 I discoverd the true beauty of wildlife in their natural surroundings. Of course I had always known it was spectaculair, but seeing it with my own eyes overwhelmed me. I wanted to capture the way it touched my heart.
Back home I realised how privileged I had been to have this amazing experience and hope that I will be able to go back to Africa one day and still see these intiguinig yet extremely vulnerable animals.. Poaching, loss of habitats and human-wildlife conflicts are a danger to the populations of many of these impressive creatures. Some of the most vulnerable in Africa are the black rhinoceros, elephants, lions and cheetahs, whose numbers in the wild have decreased dramatically over the past decades. It makes me so sad...
In December 2013 I bought my first SLR camera. Just by practicing and with tips from photographer friends I learned more and more about photography and fell in love with photographing wildlife animals. It is such a relaxing and heartwarming hobby. Seeing the most beautiful creatures with their mesmerizing eyes, studying their behavior while watching them through my camera makes me forget all my troubles. Meeting new people who share this passion and are just as crazy to go out in a snow storm just to be able to see and photograph tigers in the snow... I love it!
And the animals I see are always intriguing me. I try to capture their gorgeous, sometimes intense, sometimes curious gazes and hope that others will see their beauty too. Hoping to raise just a little awareness as to how precious they are.
One of my photographs was published in the WWF book "World Nature, Higlights of the Frans Lanting Photo awards 2016" in the Netherlands. I still cannot believe they chose one of my photos! I am so proud! 😃
In March 2018 I have travelled to Japan to visit a friend and also to experience the culture, to enjoy the sakura (blooming cherry blossoms) and to see the famous snow monkeys! It was absolutely AMAZING!
Two weeks after returning from Japan, I was in an accident, which caused (besides some cuts and bruises) a concussion, which turned into post concussion syndrome. This causes trouble with focussing and energy, so photographing has changed a lot for me. I cannot look at a computerscreen without worsening my symptoms, so editting my photos is very hard.
Luckily I met my (now) husband, also an animal and photography lover, a year later and he is now (re)edit my (earlier) photos so I can still share them on my social media.
